VIDEO: AITEC Africa ICT Summit Brings Together ICT Professionals

With over 500 ICT professionals, the AITEC Africa ICT Summit, which took place on 24th & 25th February 2016 at the Visa Oshwal Center, Nairobi, Kenya, was opened by ICT Cabinet Secretary, Joe Mucheru.

The event included professionals from the East African region and as far as Ghana who were here to showcase their products and services and give talks on tech trends and current innovations.

Setback for Kenya’s digital migration journey as KBC, K24 back to analogue

Picture 30The drama that has bedeviled Kenya’s Digital broadcasting journey is far from over.

Two free-to-air stations have ditched digital platform citing poor reach of the platform.

National broadcaster, KBC, and Mediamax’s channel K24 are now airing their programs in analogue format saying most Kenyans are yet to purchase set-top-boxes meaning digital TV reach is still limited. Continue reading

Samsung installs Solar-powered Internet School in Kenya


 In its endeavour to develop critical technical and engineering skills across Kenya, Samsung Electronics East Africa on Wednesday churned out 98 graduates from the Nairobi-based Samsung Electronics Engineering Academy.

Samsung Electronics East Africa has launched the first Solar Powered Internet School (SPIS) in Kenya in a bid to boost education in remote areas.

The green technology move also aims to address scarcity in the provision of learning material, low electricity connectivity in public schools as well as access to information, communication and technologies (ICTs). Continue reading
