Kenya’s NIC bank launches ‘NOW’ platform

NIC Bank  is targeting customers with a set of solutions that make banking easy and quickly accessible. The bank has officially shifted to the new  strategy dubbed “NOW” Banking to address the needs of time –conscious customers.

Through the “MOVE to NOW” strategy, NIC Bank will focus on developing innovative products and services that can be delivered in a fast and efficient manner. NOW banking will become the lenses through which its products and services are evaluated.

“This strategic shift is an answer to the emerging “NOW” generation that demands everything on their fingertips. Through this strategy, we aim to move all our products to the “NOW” platform, to ensure our customer needs are being met NOW!” commented John Gachora, NIC Bank Group Managing Director.

As part of this strategy, NIC Bank has already developed a number of innovations such as NIC NOW Mobile application, online account opening, online cheque deposit and full online banking.

Through the NIC NOW application, customers on-the-go can perform most of the everyday transactions such as balance enquiry, M-PESA payments, bill payments and fund transfers.

The online account opening capability now allows a customer to open an NIC account without ever leaving the comfort of their home or office. Company Executives can now get their Corporate cheques instantly deposited from their office desks using the online cheque deposit.

Through MOVE to NOW, NIC Bank is challenging all those who are time conscious, to demand efficient and timely services today.

10 years ago banking in Kenya was tedious. Process was everything, the lines were long, the account opening was complex, numerous charges were hidden, customer service was a non-entity, the branches few and inconveniently located and the list goes on and on. NIC met this challenge and launched MOVE which at the time was considered bold, innovative and creative. A flat fee, no hidden charges and convenient. MOVE literally refreshed banking.

10 years on and the landscape has totally shifted again. “We have a complete solution that covers most aspects of our customers’ demands” said Mr. Gachora.
